My friends, our discerning minds have officially gone on vacation. Since September 11th, 2001, the American identity we choose daily to dawn has been riddled with bullet holes. Finally, we are realizing that this label comes with a price. The price is docility.

In a post sanity world, we have but few vestiges of light and reason left with which to define ourselves as human beings. These are slowly eroding. And I would say that it is not all doom and gloom…but it is.

We decided some time ago that it was a good idea to gift ourselves the ability to instantly connect with anyone we could think of. We dubbed the technology, “the phone”.

We’d pick up the phone, and “call” someone. A person on the other end would pick up their phone…hopefully. And as long as we stayed inside and sat next to the phone, we could carry on a casual conversation with someone about 6 miles away, without yelling. It was the end of 19th century. It was cool.
