We thought we could unite and stand strong as a nation
But these elections truly show us just who we are
Some of us wait for results sick with consternation
While others drink away their lives at local bars
A tarnished place, America seems on its last legs
While hopeful candidates scour the states for votes
Still plagued by race, she yells, screams and all but begs
To end the ethnic warfare brought on by outdated tropes
If we know that politics create more division
Why we entertain it as if it's the only way?
History is filled with fallen empires' visions
False identities and corruption caused their decay
