Life’s fragility is not to be taken for granted. Our biological flames are at continuous risk of extinction due to little more than the passage of time and the nature of our daily circumstances. Recently, while at work, I experienced a situation that reminded me just how ephemeral our existence is.
Not Just Another Day at the Office…
I work in an elementary school as a front office secretary. My day consists of answering phone calls and filing paperwork in addition to other small administrative tasks.
While conducting my morning duties, Ms. Iris Bery, a member of the office staff and the school’s bookkeeper, began complaining that she wasn’t feeling well.
Ms. Bery works in the back office along with several other administrative personnel. Complaining of a headache and a heavy malaise, she asked the school’s in-house nurse to check her vitals. When nurse Monroe entered Ms. Bery’s office, she noticed Iris’s pale visage right away.
