S"MOTHER"ed Dreams

A dream delayed. A dream forgotten.

Settle, take this government job
Work 20 years, don't complain or sob

A pension's at the end for those
who eat the shit and hold their nose

Said,

'I love you. Can't you see? Who else would beg you on their knees?

You try and try yet you still fail. Why don't you try something else?

It's your passion but you're not great
Give it up before it's too late!'

It was all he could do to hide
The anger raging wild inside

A soul can only take so much
Before it says enough's enough

Tired, drained, barely in touch
on the verge of giving up,

he contemplated, deep in thought
For answers, wrecked his soul and fought

The passion in his heart ran deep
And many nights he could not sleep

The voices in his head were real
The anguish often made him ill

Knew he had the heart and skill
If only their voice he'd kill
