The Meaning of Fight

You beat a million potential “you’s” to your mother’s egg just to have a chance to be who you are now.

If you ever find yourself doubting what you’re made of, take a step back and look at where you’ve come from, what you’ve had to endure to make it where you are now. Each new day on this earth is a testament to your fortitude and strength of will. You could have ended it all by now, yet you haven’t. Something has you holding on.

What is it? I’d like to call it fight; only some days, it doesn’t feel much like fighting. It feels more like desperation. Just know that fighting doesn’t have to be offensive. Sometimes, fighting is defensive. It’s not giving up even though all odds are against you and friends and family stop believing in you. When this happens, to fight only means to hold on.

Sometimes, you won’t have strength enough to avoid the destructive darts hurled at you from the world. And in these moments, it’s enough just to stand and take the hits. If you fall, get up and keep taking them. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

Besides, it takes a lot of stamina to do something big in this world, to not die with your dreams comfortably tucked away inside your head and heart. That is to say, you’ll have to take hits while being tired, blind, and not having…
