You’ve had the same unproductive morning routine for years. Your alarm goes off. You pick up your phone, hit snooze and roll back over–pillow on face. It’s 5am.

You’re supposed to get up, but you don’t. Two hours later, your second alarm goes off. This time, eyes burning, you get up…Well, you’re up, but you don’t actually get up. Instead, you lay in bed and check your phone. News. Emails. Twitter. Instagram. Facebook. YouTube. Garbage.

After you’ve excited your heart rate and raised your anxiety levels with the new dramas of today (which happen to be yesterday’s old dramas), you finally get out of bed with a slightly pessimistic view of the world. But you don’t realize it. It’s just another miserable day to you and somehow, you have to get through it.

Every action you take from here on out will be colored by the events of this morning routine. Your interactions with people, the food you choose to eat, your overall view of the world and the people in it; it will all be affected by the first actions you took this morning.

At the end of the day, you get back into bed thankful for the opportunity to destress and forget about the world.

There’s no real excitement in you for the next day. In fact you’re already dreading the next morning. Sleep is your only solace. And secretly, you…
