Want Purpose? Solve Problems for Others
“How do you want to help people?”
“What problem could you realistically solve for others?”
I’ve been pondering intensely over these two questions of late. They are the two most important questions creators and entrepreneurs will ask themselves. Recently, I read a post by Nicolas Cole on the trap of building and falling for the “personal brand”.
He says influencers are so concerned with convincing the world how special and important they are that they forget the ultimate goal: helping others.
It is my belief that a genuine influencer/artist/creative desires primarily to help others achieve their own goals. If this is true, why do so many of us predominantly use our talents and abilities to attract attention and sell others on the products we create?
Ask yourself if you have made the proverbial deal with the devil to acquire money and fame without regard for actual impact? Did you ever care about affecting people’s lives for the better?
Were you just trying to make a sale? If so, can you even remember the fire you had for helping people when you began? Get paid for your services. Sure. However, if all you consider is how much money you’re making, you’ll most likely quit if you ever hit a dry spell.
