Sacrifice is necessary to get where you want to go.

Know When To Quit

I’ve been a musician since I was ten years old and while I’ve enjoyed the ride, I’ve decided to no longer invest energy into developing my skill as a musical artist. I want to maximize my time in a field where I know I can excel and develop a high degree of proficiency.

For me, this field is writing. When it comes to thinking on paper (as Jordan Peterson might say), I excel. I find that while deep work is involved in producing quality written content, my ability to convey a message that moves others and inspires thoughtfulness comes easy.

Steve Harvey once said that one’s gift is that which one does the best with the least amount of effort. This means that a person may have many abilities, but they are likely best at one thing.

According to Harvey, it is this one thing that we should focus on because it will proffer us the most success on the world stage.

Determination and tenaciousness are required to become successful at anything. This seems obvious, and to people who are already successful at their chosen craft, they likely have had little reason to consider this fact.
